Hal D. McReynoldsHal David McReynolds, age 74, of LaGrange Park, Illinois passed away July 9, 2015.  He was born on January 5, 1941.  Hal grew up in McLean, Illinois attending McLean-Waynesville High School then graduated from the University of Illinois.  He earned a Ph.D. from Loyola University at Chicago and was a professor at the University’s Dental School for 18 years.  Hal was a small business owner for most of his adult life, at different times owning and managing rental properties, operating his family’s funeral homes in central Illinois, and building a successful fast food franchise operation. Hal retired in 1996. A 31 year resident of Golfview Hills in Hinsdale, IL, Hal enjoyed living on a small lake, casting out a line, and watching the sunsets from his backyard porch. He was a loyal fan of the Illini, the Fighting Irish, and the Cubs. He loved to golf, enjoyed classic cars, and Route 66 nostalgia. He liked to travel throughout the U.S., but mostly, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Hal is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kathie (Yeast), daughters Amy Hoffman (Tom), Alyson Levine (Greg), Emily Barszcz (Rafal), and grandchildren Erin, Sarah and Kate Hoffman, Connor, Owen and Annie Levine and Alexa Barszcz. Hal was preceded in death by his parents Lowell “Bill” and Florence McReynolds and sister Mary Kay Herrmann.  He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. A visitation will be held on Monday, July 13 from 3-8 p.m. at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside, IL.  A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, July 14 at 9:45 a.m. at St. John of the Cross Church in Western Springs, IL.  Interment will be at 3 p.m. at Funks Grove Cemetery near McLean, IL. A reception and Celebration of Life will take place at Bloomington Country Club following the burial service.   1. Your love made me a better person, confident in my own self and you taught the children to be the same way. If you do something, do it well. We’re so proud of you. I’m sure your parents were too. You worked hard so everyone close to you was happy, confident, and capable. I cannot say enough about how much I love you. I will miss being with you every night and saying “Have a good night, I’ll see you tomorrow”. Now, the next time I see you will be in heaven. “Til then my love, Goodnight”!
