Sister Ellen Springer, C.S.J., age 91, beloved member of the Congregation of St. Joseph, celebrating over 70 years of Religious Life. Beloved daughter of the late Max and late Lena Springer. Loving sister of Karl, the late Paul (Virginia), and the late Sister Agnes Springer. Visitation 4 to 9pm, Friday, July 17 at The Congregation of St. Joseph Chapel, 1515 W. Ogden Ave., LaGrange Park. Funeral Mass 9am, Saturday July 18. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to The Congregation of St. Joseph or the Sr. Ellen Springer (Paulita) Memorial Scholarship Fund are appreciated. Sr. Ellen had a Doctorate in chemistry and was a teacher of science at Nazareth Academy for 47 years. She served as Novice Director for the Sisters of St. Joseph for 5 years, and volunteered at St. Joseph’s Press. One of the highlights of her life was having the opportunity to live in a different culture while teaching chemistry to Arab students at Bethlehem University in Israel. She will be dearly missed.
