Thomas John Byrd age 72, of Lemont, formerly of LaGrange. Former PGA Golf Pro at Timber Trails Golf Club. U.S. Army Veteran. Beloved husband of Lynne A.; devoted father of Ronald (Gloriann) and Michael Byrd and Kristin Ceder; cherished grandfather of Meredith and Alec Byrd and Jacob Ceder; dear brother of James and the late John (Kathy) Byrd; uncle of many. Visitation Thursday from 4 to 8pm at Hallowell & James Funeral Home 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Prayers 9:15am on Friday Nov., 13, from the chapel to St. Cletus Church in LaGrange for 10am Mass. So sorry to learn of Tom’s passing . We became friends in ’69 when he worked for Bill Davis at EVCC and I worked at Butterfield. He played in my Pro Am at Kankakee and we shared many mutual friends. TOM WAS A FINE PGA Professional and a credit to the game and his family . May memories of great times bring smiles and warmth at this time.
A smile always comes to my face when I think of Tom, because the only picture of him that ever comes to mind is his tall frame topped by his contagious smile. He is one of the most joy-filled people I have known. I am sad that I won’t see him at the golf course or on this earth again, but I look forward to seeing him again one day. That will be a laughter-filled reunion! My condolences to Lynne and the family.
