Lorraine H. Brandt, 96, died peacefully at home surrounded by love on February 9. Lorraine lived a long and wonderful life and remarked that there was not one thing left on her bucket list. She was always a beautiful woman, a fashion and hair model, honored by the Tribune as one of Chicago’s most beautiful women. She was a brilliant woman, receiving awards for studies in science at St. Mary’s of the Woods College. She was a talented woman, an accomplished dancer and choreographer and artistic director for many productions at the LaGrange Community Theatre, Nazareth Academy, and Fenwick High School. Lorraine was an avid bridge player, enjoyed golf at LGCC, and was a loyal Cubs, Bulls, and Bears fan. She was married for 69 years to the love of her life, Bob Brandt, who after waiting for her for five years was no doubt pleased that she was finally “out the door ready” and coming to join him. She and Bob shared a fun and adventurous life, travelling the world and raising three children, Barbara, Bob, Jr., and Dee Dee (Bob Branand). Her children were always devoted to her and credit their own sense of family and self to the lessons and the life they learned and lived from her and with her. For her loving 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren she will ever be Nonnie and all the love and adventure that name embodies for each of them.
