Noreen T. Lombardi (nee McGuire) lost her brave fight with cancer on Sunday, February 21 at age 64. Born to Marilyn and the late William McGuire as an identical twin and the 3rd of 6 daughters; Noreen was raised and attended school in Chicago where in the 7th grade she fell in love with Gerald Lombardi; they married in 1977. She became the devoted mother of twins Jerry (Nicole) and William (Elizabeth) and of Anne Marie. Noreen was the dear identical twin of Maureen (the late Kevin) Farell, their mutual devotion was immeasurable and unwavering, and the sister of Mary Lynn (Robert) Clarke, Kathleen Kettinger, Jennie Rae (Richard) McGuire Alesky and Timmie (Frank) Cortina. Noreen was grandmother to Brandon and Michael, a fabulous aunt to 7 nieces and nephews and office mom to countless court reporters at McGuire’s Reporting, where her calm reasoning and quick smile made her indispensable for 25 years. Noreen will be best remembered for her loyalty and quiet strength, but most of all for her unfailing kindness. A random act of kindness to another being, reflecting Noreen’s generosity of spirit, would be a well suited memorial. Visitation Wednesday, Feb 24, 4pm to 9pm at Hallowell & James Funeral Home 301 – 75th St., Downers Grove. Prayers Thursday, Feb. 25, 9:15am from the chapel to Our Lady of Peace Church, Darien. Mass 10am. Interment Private. Info: (630) 964-6500
This is one of the most heartwarming obituaries I’ve ever read. These simple words described Noreen and her family as they truly are. My deepest condolences to the entire Lombardi and McGuire families. Noreen will be hugely missed but we are all smiling at the privilege to have shared her love, laughter and kindness in our lives.
