Betty H. Karnes (nee Hooks) age 84, of LaGrange. Beloved wife of Michael M. for 60 years. Loving mother of Nona (Gary) Massengill and John Karnes. Devoted grandmother of Christian and Daniel Massengill. Cherished sister of Patsy Lemmond and sister-in-law of Audrey Hooks, Celia Prince and Karen Miller. Dear aunt to many. Betty was preceded in death by her parents John Braxton and Nona Hooks, and her siblings Edwin, Sadie, Steven, Stanley and Paul. Visitation Thursday, May 19, 9am until time of an 11am funeral service at Hallowell & James Funeral Home 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Interment Fairmount-Willow Hills Memorial Park. We are so sorry for your loss. We only knew Betty briefly (block parties), and she was a sweet lady and very proud of her family. May she rest in peace.

I’m sorry our visit today was so short, and under such sad circumstances.
I remember your mom well. The first time I came over to play (from Goodman school 🙂 she offered me popcorn, and I though that was so funny!
When my mom would run into your mom at the store, my mom would give me the update on what was happening in your life. I always loved hearing the latest :-).
If you come back to La Grange in the future, on a happier occasion, and have some time, I’d love to catch up. I’m in the area (Elmhurst).
