john-k-lowry-jrJohn K. Lowry Jr., age 51; of Downers Grove, IL passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec 11, surrounded by his loving family. John is survived by his beloved wife Ann (nee Moran) of 26 years; sons Jack, Patrick, and George; mother Betsy; brother Tim (Catherine); sister Page (Carter) Wilson; 15 sisters and brothers-in-law; 36 adoring nieces and nephews, many cousins and dear friends.  John was predeceased by his father John K. Lowry, Sr.  John was born July 8, 1965, in Pittsburgh where he developed his love of sports. John attended Cardinal Gibbons High School in Ft. Lauderdale, FL where he played football and graduated from Xavier University in Cincinatti, OH where he played rugby and met his wife Ann Moran of Hinsdale, IL.  John and Ann were married in 1990 shortly after John began his successful career in banking and wealth management.  John loved playing golf, routing for the Pirates, Steelers and Xavier basketball and coaching baseball for his three sons and many other Downers Grove youth baseball teams. John was an exceptional friend who treasured his countless dear friendships.  John received the 2012 rotarian of the year award and was the 2017 Hinsdale Rotary President elect.  Visitation Friday, Dec. 16 from 3 to 9pm at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Family and friends to gather Saturday, Dec. 17 at St. Mary of Gostyn Church, 445 Prairie Ave., Downers Grove. Mass 10am. Interment Bronswood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Downers Grove Youth Baseball Association, c/o Jim Sharwarko, PO Box 526, Downers Grove, IL 60515, or to the Rotary Club of Hinsdale, PO Box 395, Hinsdale, IL 60522.   5. Ann, Jack, Patrick, & George- I am terribly sorry to hear this news and for your loss. I worked with John for many years at the bank and Merrill Lynch. He was a tremendous guy and will be greatly missed. I went to University of Dayton and he always made me aware via e-mail when XU beat us….which was a lot. I will miss those e-mails and most importantly my friend.
