Dorothy M. Johnson (nee Millard), age 91, of Indian Head Park lost her hard-fought battle with dementia on April 22. Beloved wife of the late Donald H.; devoted mother of Donald H. Jr., Ph.D. (fiance Katherine Scharko) and Gwen Johnson Merker (Grant Merker); cherished grandmother of Eric D. (Annie Beedy) Johnson, Christine (Andrew) Moir, Brittany (Michael) Tripp and Sara Merker (fiance Brian Lewis); cherished great-grandmother of Parker and Caroline Tripp and Samuel ‘Sam’ and August ‘Gus’ Moir, including another loved great-grandson expected in May; dear sister of Hugh T. Millard of Colorado, and the late Mary Gene Millard; sister-in-law, the late Claire Hoag, and cousins through marriage, Marilyn Benande and Mildred Carlson were like sisters to her; loving aunt of 8; beloved friend of many. Dorothy was an active and honored member of the Lambda Chapter of Kappa Delta and a graduate of Northwestern University; loved Substitute Teacher in Districts 105 and 53; active member and decades-long Teacher at Grace Lutheran Church, LaGrange. Visitation Wednesday April 26, 4 to 8pm at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, April 27 at Grace Lutheran Church, 200 N. Catherine Ave. in LaGrange, 10am. A private graveside service will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie.
