Donald William Cushing, 87, of LaGrange passed away peacefully on July 5, 2017.  Don was born on Sept. 1, 1929 in Ottawa, IL, the son of James L.”Roy” and Marie (Dunn) Cushing.  Don was preceded in death by his brother James (Lu) and his sister Hilda Keller (Leo).  Don was the beloved husband for 64 years of Joan (nee Langlois).  He was a devoted father to his 6 children: Brian (Cathleen), Kevin (Lisa), MaryJo Gronli (Mike), Jeanne Reilly (Mark), Tom (Jamie) and Anne La Valle (Al).  He loved and delighted in his 19 grandchildren Ellen, Jimmy, Kellen, Lily, Keegan, Kelly, Michael, Kristen, Christopher, John, Kevin, Grace, Thomas, Jack, Drew, Emmett, Albert, Andrew and Audrey; and his 6 great-grandchildren, Tess, Claire, Declan, Liam, Reilly and Breigh.  Don was an alumnus of St. Bede Academy in Peru, IL and St. Ambrose College.  He was a Korean War Veteran and a retired executive who worked for United Airlines for over 30 years.  Don was an active member of the St. Francis Xavier Parish for over 50 years.  Don’s life was devoted to his wife, Joan and to their family.  He was a humble, quiet man.  His faith-filled life and his love of family provide an example for all that abides today and into the future.  Visitation 3 to 7pm Sunday July 9, 2017 at Unity Hall at St. Francis Xavier Church, located on the west side of the church, and is accessible from the west parking lot.  Funeral Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church at 10am Monday, July 10, 2017.  Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Francis Xavier Parish, 124 N.
