Denise Rakoci

Mrs. Denise (nee Porch) Rakoci passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at Hinsdale Hospital in Hinsdale, Illinois at the age of 65.

Denise is survived by her husband of almost 42 years, Robert Rakoci of Burr Ridge; her children, Derek (Mandy) Rakoci of Plainfield and Dana Rakoci of Bolingbrook; her grandchildren, Connor Rakoci and one due in October; her father, Stanley Porch of Plainifield; sisters Diane (Joe) Rakoci of Homer Glen, Deborah (Jeff) Stoermer of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister-in-law Kathleen Rakoci; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, her best friend Leonette Pahr, and her favorite furry friends Belle, Rascal, Maizy and Wrigley.

She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Jason, her mother, Mary Jane, stepmother, Marceil Gervais,  father-in-law, Rudolph Rakoci, mother-in-law, Susan Rakoci, grandparents and several beloved family members.

Denise was born in Arcachon, France on August 4th, 1952 to Stanley Phenton and Mary Jane (Moore) Porch. She graduated from Hinsdale South High School in 1971 and Western Illinois University with a degree in Elementary Education in 1975. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert, on July 10th, 1976. She worked in the education field for several decades and earned her Masters Degree in 2008 alongside her daughter.

Denise loved spending time with her family, especially at the lake, animals, children, and making people laugh. As her grandson said “Mimi brought all the fun!”  Her family promises to continue to do the same.

At Denise’s request she will be cremated privately. All are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life visitation on Saturday, April 7, from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at Hallowell & James Funeral Home 1025 W. 55th st., Countryside, Immediately followed with a funeral procession from the chapel to Clarendon Hills Cemetery in Darien for a final committal service under the auspices of Seth Rempel.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Lung Cancer Research Foundation (www.lungcancerresearchfoundation.org) or The Amita Health Cancer Institute in Hinsdale, Illinois.

  3. I was so shocked to hear about her passing. Adam and I and our three daughters were neighbors across the street from Denise and her family for many years. Our kids played together all of the time. Our deepest sympathy goes out to her family. We will keep her and her family in our prayers.
