Wayne and Dorothy were my second parents, loving me as I grew up across the street and providing a home over summers of my collegiate career at U Of I in Champaign after my family moved to Florida. I recall his stern, but loving demeanor and fondness for westen movies and novels. He introduced me to summers on the houseboat and gardening. He demanded living honestly but understood that family is complicated. I am so grateful that he accepted me into his family.
So sorry for your loss, prayers for the family at this time
The Jacobs’ from weyerhaeuser will miss Wayne very much. No matter how many times we drove by with loads of feed, Wayne would always stop what he was doing to wave so big. He took so much pride in his lawn and garden. We always looked forward to when Wayne and Dorothy arrived in the spring and missed them when they headed home in the fall. Thanks for being our friend
I first encountered Officer Linhart as a grade school student at Walker School when he came to the gym with Chief Hrunik and Art Blackwell for a safety lecture. Wayne was new to the job, but kept a very serious face. Frankly, we were all pretty afraid of him. As it turns out, we had a great cadre of officers with the CHPD back in those years who had the big picture and the communities best interest at heart. He was always on top of his game, he was fair, and he was a decent human being. Thank you Wayne. You left the world a better place than you found it!
