Robert Eric Yates of Western Springs, Illinois, formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio. Adored (and very tolerant) husband of Irene Ward Yates. Amazing father of Christopher Eric Yates and Alex Robert Yates. Loving son of Ronald Anthony Yates and Patricia Thompson Yates; son-in-law of Larry Eugene Ward and Annette Surline Ward. Devoted brother of Kristin (Boyd) Sutton and the late Kurt Daniel Yates, and (presumptive favorite) uncle of Logan Michael Sutton and Gunnar Ward Lacey. Eric was a fantastic nephew, cousin and friend to many wonderful people, and was a dedicated oenophile in both his work and his life. Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents, brother, and other beloved family members. Visitation 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday September 21, 2018 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th Street, Countryside. Funeral mass for family and friends to follow at 11:15 a.m. at St. John of the Cross Church, 5005 Wolf Rd., Western Springs.
