Cecil “Buck” Roderick

Cecil (Buck) Roderick, 81, of Hodgkins passed away at his home December 6, 2018.  Beloved husband of Diane (Zhe) for 28 years.  Loving father of Lenny (Maria), Ricky, and the late Kevin.  Fond daughter-in-law Barbara Hovy (David), cherished grandchildren Jason Overfelt (Shelley), Justin Roderick (Tiffany), Joshua Roderick, Kristy Dougherty (James), Kyle Roderick and Kelly Roderick.  Adored great-grandchildren Logan, Noah, Ashlyn, Braeden and Nathan.  A special relationship with mother-in-law Dorothy Zhe (the late Lloyd) and sister-in-law Brenda Schultz (Robert).  Uncle of many caring nieces and nephews.  Many special friends too numerous to mention and preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.  He was a self-made man being the owner of M & R Wrecking in McCook for 30 years and co-owner of Buck’s Pit Stop in Hodgkins.  Buck never met a stranger and lived life to the fullest and was very generous to all.  He had a warm and caring heart and touched many lives.  A perfect ten for a husband, he held Diane’s hand and told her he loved her every day.  A life well-lived, a race now complete.  He had taken his final lap.  Visitation 3 to 9pm Monday, December 10, 2018 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th Street, Countryside where Funeral Service will be held at 11am Tuesday, December 11, 2018.  Interment St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.  Donations can be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church in LaGrange, IL.  Funeral home phone 708/352-6500 or www.hjfunerals.com
