Geraldine G. ‘Gerry’ Puljung, age 77, of Western Springs; beloved wife of John J. Puljung for 55 years; loving mother of John M. Puljung, Meredith (Daniel) Weith, & Michael (Angel) Puljung; dear sister of Terrence Held & the late Patrick Held; preceded in death by loving parents George & Geraldine Held. Visitation 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 7 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55thSt., Countryside. Funeral prayers 10:45 a.m. on Monday, April 8, from the funeral home to St. John of the Cross Church, Western Springs. Mass 11:15 a.m. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Gerry’s most excellent liturgical environments, whether they be at Holy Name Cathedral, St. Mary’s-Riverside, St. John Brebeuf-Niles or St. John of the Cross-Western Springs; spoke for themselves and of the liturgy as well as the style and grace of the artist who created them. Gerry helped make so many brides look radiant. Her work was a consolation to bereaved families. Consistently she was better than best. Smart, Gerry had a dry, Irish sense of humor that could make you double over!
A “proud” wife, mom and mom in law; her vision, passion, and creative energy will be missed. Hopefully, when I get to St. Peter’s Gate, I trust Gerry will have everything looking most beautiful and fragrant. Then, it will be on to the celestial banquet where, one hopes, Gerry will have her most technicolor creations on display. My dear Puljung Family, you have my deepest sympathy. Keep a song in your hearts.
