Richard J. Hinz passed away peacefully on Monday, October 14th, 2019 at the age of 72 while surrounded by his loving family in the tranquility of his own home. Beloved husband of Deborah (nee Smith); loving father of Dawn (Jim) Furio, Michele Spingola, Dan (Natalie) Hinz, and Kim Hinz; dear grandfather of Carli (Ryan) Waszak, Teagan (Kevin) Fleming, Jamie Furio, Gianna, Bryn, & Cade Spingola, and Chara, Grace, & Zoe Hinz; fond great-grandfather of Colton Fleming; cherished brother of Bob (Diana) Hinz, Marilyn (Charles) BaChoe, John (Marge) Rich, Ralph (Sharon) Rich, Brenda (Carl) Johnson, Joanne (Mike) Leonard, Donna (Robert) Cavazos, and Mary (Steve) Gilliam; beloved son of Opal Pinto and the late Robert Hinz; uncle and friend to many. Rich will be most remembered as a man of uncommon toughness, great gentleness, and deep faith. He worked as a pipe fitter, serving most of his career at Kroeschell, Inc. as a member of Pipe Fitters Local 597 until he retired in 2008. He loved the outdoors and working with his hands. He was an avid hunter, but also enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, and tinkering in his many garages. Rich had a deep love for Jesus and was actively involved at Hope Church in LaGrange, especially men’s ministry. Mostly, Rich loved spending time with family and friends whom he loved fiercely. Visitation 2 to 8pm on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Family and friends to gather Monday, October 21 at Hope Church, 5707 Wolf Rd. in the LaGrange Highlands for a 10:30 am service. Interment private.
