David E. MacDonald, age 97, of Downers Grove, formerly a longtime south side resident. US Army Veteran / WWII. Beloved husband of Margaret. Loving father of Janet (Michael) Cain, Robin (Jack) Krynicki, Neil (late Nora) MacDonald, Eric (Tina) MacDonald and Paul (Mary) MacDonald. Proud grandfather of 14 and great-grandfather of 19.5. Dear brother of the late Donald (late Betty) MacDonald and the late Diann (late Sam) Kooistra. Fond uncle to many. David will be remembered as a devoted Cubs fan and an avid fisherman who is still waiting for that big bass. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Sunday December 8th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 301 75th St., Downers Grove. Prayers 9:15 a.m. Monday December 9th from the funeral home to St. Mary of Gostyn Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Entombment Assumption Cemetery.
