  1. Mrs. Krisciunas was my counselor at LT (Class of 1978). She was a very caring and thoughtful person, who guided me during the rough high school years for a teenager, especially when I lost my dad during my senior year. May her family know how she touched so many students during her career. My heartfelt condolences to her entire family.

  2. Helen Krisciunas epitomized kindness and the kind of extraordinary empathy that brought her to her role as a guidance counselor for thousands of students at Lyons Township High School. The natural evenness of her disposition and her deep reserves of quiet patience made her the most instinctual adviser present for untold numbers of kids who were at crossroads in their lives.. Nothing daunted her. No matter the difficulties kids lives may have brought to her office,, she never showed stress nor reluctance, In her presence and in her charge, students felt safe and comforted.. And despite the pressures, the long hours and the seemingly never ending responsibility to remain each kid’s private listener, she never complained. or admitted to being overwhelmed. Her door and her heart were indeed…”always open”. . In her time, she was, truthfully, one of LT’s greatest assets. Let all the graces she earned for her unselfish service to young people go forward with her. Thanks for letting me be a witness, Helen. And thank you for your example of human kindness.

  3. Mrs. Kriscuinas was a wonderful, beautiful soul. She was my counselor from 1974 to 1978. I corresponded with her for several years after high school and am so glad she was a part of my life! She loved her family and students very much.

You were with them as they made decisions concerning their future. You were always a calm listening adult with whom students could communicate. Thank you.
