Rudolph E. Hoffman, age 88, of Darien. US Army Veteran / Korean War. Beloved husband of the late Karen. Loving father of Laura (Michael) Amiot and Timothy (Elaine) Hoffman. Devoted grandfather of Nathan and Molly Amiot, Aaron and Anna Hoffman. Cherished brother of the late Gertrude (late Gustav) Stevens. Dear uncle of Robert and Richard Stevens.
Rudy immigrated in 1939 from Vienna, Austria. His family settled in Chicago because of family in the area. After earning his Master’s degree at the University of Michigan, he served in intelligence for the US Army during the Korean War. Afterwards he started a 34 year career with MetLife in insurance sales. He spent his retirement since 1994 travelling annually to his favorite beach in Siesta Key, FL for family vacations, reading the Wall Street Journal every day, and showing devotion and loyalty to his wife Karen while they stayed involved with their local church and grandkids lives. Rudy was able to maintain his independence till the end when his worldly body failed him and the Lord called him home. He will be missed but never forgotten.
A memorial visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. Saturday January 25th at West Hills Community Church, 213 E. 55th St., Westmont, IL. Memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at the church. (If sending flowers, please schedule delivery to the church on Saturday). Arrangements entrusted to Hallowell & James Funeral Home 630-964-6500.
Rudy was gentleman’s gentleman to all who knew him. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, father-law, grandpa, uncle and a good friend. He is no longer in pain and he Is enjoying eternal life in heaven. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
