We will miss Hank a great deal. He treated me and all friends alike, with warmth and grace. His smile is ever lasting and kindness genuine. God bless Hank.
We are so sorry for the loss of your dear husband, Dad, and grandfather. He was a very thoughtful and kind man. I remember he drove PJ, my sister-Pat Egan, our friend Rosemary Regan, and myself to O’Hare in a snowstorm so that we could catch our flight to go skiing for the first time in Aspen, Colorado. He will be missed by your whole family!
May you be comforted by this Irish Proverb:
We weep for the Loss of him,
We laugh for the Life of him.”
Hank knew how to be a good friend. Enjoyed many friendly competitions on the golf course at BFCC. Hank always had a friendly spirit and possessed a deadly clutch putting stroke for which many of us have paid the price. Hank you are already missed. Good by old friend.

We have been blessed to have Hank and his lovely wife Joan as our neighbor for more than 20 years. Hank was a person of kindness and always so easy to like. A fine Christian man with a giant heart for his fellow man. We will miss him and his great family from our lives.

I presided at the weddings of two of Hank’s grandchildren. I was so impressed with his warmth and joy. I was edified by his devotion to his wife, his esteem for his four daughters, and his delight in his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His daughter, Sue, told me in his last weeks he kept repeating, “I am so blessed.” I feel blessed to have met and spent time with him. May he enjoy his eternal reward.
Hank’s constant humor, kindness, and generosity was treasured across decades of friendship. He set the bar high and will always be remembered with love. Our hearts are with Joan and family, we wish you peace.
There never was a nicer man in the whole world than Hank Deiters. He and Joan were a wonderful combination. I was lucky to have known him — he was a good friend to both me and my husband John. My condolences to Joan and the girls.
Hank was one of those special people that we’ve been fortunate to meet and enjoy his friendship since he joined Big Foot Country Club over 30+ years ago. And, during all those years he was always positive, friendly, fun and encouraging. And, while we will dearly miss him going forward, we will always remember all the good times and all the many laughs that we enjoyed being with Hank and Joan!
It was an honor to have known Hank. He was such a fine man. He was my Confirmation Sponsor in the 1960’s and gave me my 1st baseball glove. He was a kind, loving man with a great sense of humor. God bless him and his wonderful wife and family.
Simply stated, Hank was just a kind, happy, generous gentleman. He was a role model to all. With Joan, he formed what Martha and I called, “The Happiest Couple On Earth.”

A quote from our father Harry Richards – “Hank is one of the finest men you will ever know! Model your life after him and you will do well.” We will never forget him.

Hank was an exceptional man on many levels; his ready smile and sparkling eyes were always a joy to behold! He so obviously ADORED his precious Joan and their children, and served as a role model for living a happy, fulfilled life. Anyone who had the opportunity to visit with him invariably walked away with a smile on their face! The angels are singing a little sweeter today.
