Donald Edward Caruso Jr., of La Grange Park, IL born 1959 passed away peacefully on June 23, 2020.

Beloved husband of 26 years to Jennifer Sabella. Loving, proud father to Sophia age 23 and Isabel age 16. Son of Donald Caruso Sr and the late Betty (nee Jones).

Brother of Debbie (James) Litza, Cindy (Robert Ciglar), Joseph (Deborah Annen-Caruso), James (Judy), John (Denise Massa), Helen, and Catherine.

Cherished brother-in-law to Kathleen (Sabella) and Ron Cecconi.

Don is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins, who were very dear to him.

He was most proud of his daughters. Sophia and Isabel were the light of his life. He loved exploring the forests of Michigan, watching funny movies, and instilling a love of live music.

As an engineer and business owner, Don employed and mentored many people. He was a recognized expert in the machine tool industry.

Don was a sensitive, kind man who saw the humor in everyday life. He will be missed by all who knew him.

A private visitation will be held with Don’s immediate family. A Memorial Service, where all are welcome, will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Hallowell & James Funeral Home, Countryside. Funeral info: (708) 352-6500

  1. Don had such a sweet smile and boundless sense of humor. I will always remember his big heart and his willingness to help out anybody at any time. He was a special soul on this earth. May Jennifer, Sophia, and Isabel feel his loving presence forevermore.

My deepest sympathy to the Caruso family Don was my closest and best friend when we were in school some of my fondest memories are working on the house doing the soffit and drip edge and facia and spending a lot of time at the Caruso house loved all of you when we had our senior prom having dinner at the house in the formal dining room next to the beautiful fireplace and having The beautiful waitresses taking care of us and of of course all the kick ass parties out at the Lake Michigan beach house he was a very dear friend to me and I am sad today because he is gone to soon I love you Don RIP my friend

  4. We were sad to hear of the passing of Don. We were all students at MTU. Don and Ron had great times working together at the radio station (WMTU). Who could forget Don’s infamous MTU ballad? Don was kind and jovial, a good person and someone you were always happy to see. Deepest condolences to the family.

  6. Hearing this sad news has been devastating, to say the least ,to our family. Don was part of our life growing up. We spent summers in Michigan. and many happy times together. When Jennifer became his wife and they welcomed their beautiful daughters Isabel and Sophia, we enjoyed having them join us at so many of our family celebrations. Don was always smiling, happy and such a kind gentle soul. We mourn his loss and send our deepest love and affection to his family.
