Martin Dale Jahn

Martin Dale Jahn, age 91, US Army Veteran, of Burr Ridge, passed away on October 10, 2020. Beloved husband of Patricia Catherine Jahn (nee Yercich) for a wonderful 42 years. Loving father of Martin August (Deirdre), Randall Thomas (Sue Ann), and Cheryl Jean (Michael) Allison. Dear step-father of the late Robert Victor Emmerick, James John Emmerick, and Eric Bernard (Joellen) Emmerick. Devoted grandfather of Elizabeth Jahn, Maxwell Jahn, Zachary Jahn, Tristan Jahn, Claire Allison, Charles Allison, Sarah Emmerick, Grace Emmerick, and Erica Emmerick. Martin was preceded in death by his parents Reinhardt and Clare Jahn, and brothers Reinhardt (Shirley) Jahn and Loren (Jane) Jahn. Uncle and friend of many.

Martin was a dedicated family man… husband, father grandfather, brother and uncle committed to traditional values. Born and raised in Chicago, attending Morgan Park High School and Northwestern University. An entrepreneur and inventor. A key driving force in the family business, Chicago Metallic, and it’s many subsidiaries.  Has several Product Patents in his name. Active member of the Union League Club of Chicago, where he served on the Civic and Arts Committee. Philanthropist that promoted education as the key to success and the philosophy of “giving back” to community. Patron of the arts supporting  local artists, symphony, opera, theater and other. Avid collector and longtime member of Stein Collectors International. Passion for the Straits of Mackinac Area, Michigan, home to his mothers farm and where he vacationed his whole life. Adventurous in spirit and lived an active life. Embraced the principle of “Self Sufficiency” and enjoyed building or repairing things himself.

Interment private.

  1. I worked at Chicago Metallic Corporation from 10/7/1968 til 1/14/1980 being their first IT professional on staff designing and installing their first computers. Marty, Loren and Reinhardt Jahn were very good owners to work for in my career development.
    My condolences to Pat and the rest of the Jahn/Emmerick family. May the multitude of steins Marty had a passion for when I left gave everyone further joys filled with love and happiness.
