Jerome (Jerry) William Whitebread, 92, a proud U.S. Marine veteran, of Burr Ridge, Il, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2020. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan (nee Rumbyrt) Whitebread of 68 years and children: Gary (Bridgette) Whitebread and Jodi (John) McDonald. He was the cherished grandfather of Hillary Morrow, the late Jeffrey (Melissa) Whitebread, Erin (Luke) Goodwin, the late Brian Whitebread; as well as great-grandfather to Mia, Casey and Lyla Whitebread; Grant, Kellan and Eve Goodwin.
Jerry was an avid golfer who enjoyed camping and fishing with family and friends. Earlier in life, he spent many weekends calling square dances and excelled both on the dance floor and on roller skates. He enjoyed following all the Chicago sports teams but was a devoted fan of the Blackhawks. He told many a tall tale with a twinkle in his bright blue eyes of harrowing Hawks games at the old Chicago Stadium.
Jerry loved life and when meeting him, he made you feel as though you were a dear old friend. He was welcoming, gracious, had a great sense of humor, and knew how to make an entrance. His smile and good nature will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Interment private. A memorial donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Hallowell & James Funeral Home at 708-352-6500. Online condolences may be made in the comments section below.

I am so sorry to hear of your passing, you are now in the hands of our Good Lord. Had a lot of fun at Flagg Creek working together for a bunch of years. You were one of the good guys, and lots of fun playing golf together.
We will keep Joan and the rest of your family in our Prayers.

I have so many good memories of Uncle Jerry and Aunt Joan. There were too many camping trips to count. I, too, remember the Memorial Days spent at the forest preserve, Joy. And I often saw that twinkle in his eye. You will be missed! I hope you’re playing cribbage and euchre with Dad and the rest of the Pizza Pool guys! Love you!
I am so sorry to hear of Jerrys passing. He was a good guy with a great sense of humor . He also made a great choice in picking his life partner. God bless Jerry and Joan.
Joan, so sorry to learn of your husband’s passing.
