Lawrence “Reg” Potter

Lawrence “Reg” Potter, 88, a long-time resident of La Grange Park, died peacefully on April 1st with his family by his side. He was the son of Esther and Clifford Potter, and is survived by the love of his life Mary (nee Peterson), his son Carl and daughter Lisa. He has a sister, Claire Beaumont and many nieces and nephews. He and Mary celebrated 61 years of a happy marriage.

Reg graduated from Downers Grove High School where he played most sports.  He went on to graduate from the U of I where he played baseball. After graduating he joined the Air Force where he was a co-pilot on B-47s and was a member of the Strategic Air Command.

Reg spent his career as an investment advisor with Morgan Stanley (formerly Dean Witter).

He was proud to serve as an Elder at Christ Church of Oak Brook where he also participated in other ministries.

He had a great sense of humor and a positive attitude.

He loved all sports, was an avid golfer and Cub fan, but most of all he loved his family.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 12th at Christ Church of Oak Brook, 501 Oak Brook Rd., Oak Brook, IL 60523. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 to 2:30pm, the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to NAMI DuPage, The Salvation Army or Christ Church of Oakbrook would honor him.

  1. Reg Potter was a truly NICE man. I can’t think of anyone nicer. Marilyn and i had the privilege of knowing Reg and Mary for a lot of years. The world needs a lot more people with the values he lived by. God Bless Reg….and may God provide Mary, LIsa and Carl added strength during this sad time.
