Marian Joan Hannigan

Marian Joan Hannigan, 83, passed away peacefully in her home on May 22, 2021.

She is survived by her dedicated husband of almost 60 years, Philip, their four children, John (Bobbi), Jean (Curtiss) Ahrendt, Jim (Lisa) and Mary (Crispin) Tresp and five grandchildren, Katy (Dominick) Schmit, Jack, Otis, Billy and Audra Tresp.

A life-long Chicagoan, she was born to Harold and Mary Hayman, attended Trinity High School in River Forest and Marquette University.  A long-time parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, she was a friend to many and an example of faith, grace and courage as she lived with multiple sclerosis for 50 years.

Family & friends will gather directly at St. Francis Xavier Church, 124 N. Spring Ave., LaGrange on Thursday, June 17 for 10 am Mass. All those attending, please register at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/409044DAAA72EA2F94-marian Those unable to attend may livestream the service at https://www.facebook.com/SFXParish.LG/live/. Interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery will take place privately. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Marian Hannigan Memorial Fund at National MS Society would be appreciated.

    We are all very sorry that you have lost your mother. We have very strong and fond memories of big family gatherings with you all and your mother. Both in her days before and with MS, she was ALWAYS welcoming of our family.

    I’m sure your grandparents and my parents are having a great time with her joining them now. None of them would want us to mourn for long. Raise a toast to them all!

    So sorry about your mom. I have many fond memories of Marian. I always enjoyed a visit at your house on my way home from work. She was always happy to sit down and have a Pepsi and chit-chat.

  4. Uncle Phil. John, Jim, Jean and Mary Catherine, so sorry for the loss of your wife and mother, my heart goes out to you and my memories are deep with your family and mine. So many fun family get togethers. Its always been uncle Phil and Aunt Marian. You are all in my thoughts and prayers now and over the last several days. I love you all and pray that she has found peace in heaven. Cousins our family bond is strong and I am with you in your sorrow and your pain. Love you all. 💗
