Margaret Link Grosse (Peggy), age 88, of Western Springs; beloved wife of Edward
Grosse for 67 years; loving mother of Scott (Debby) Grosse, Sara (Dan) Ureel, and Laura (Jim) Parrish; proud Mimi of Britton (Mark) Fossett, Jamie (Lindsay) Grosse, Scott Ureel, Molly (Joe) Ronovsky, Will Ureel (Katherine Lachner, fiancée), Jimbo, Sawyer, and Baylor Parrish; adoring great grandmother of Ella and Charlie Fossett,
Natalie, CC, Laura and Mary Grosse, and Payton, Will and Charlie Ronovsky. Dear sister of the late Janet Smith, the late Virginia Bradbury and Martha Stattin.
Peggy inspired those around her with a love of reading and learning. Nowhere was this more evident than at her beloved cabin on Long Lake, where the family gathered nightly to watch Jeopardy, and she was always the quiet champion. Peggy graduated from Lyons Township High School and continued her education at Lawrence University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. She was also the president of her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta while at Lawrence.
Peggy was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Western Springs where she was the devoted assistant to the senior minister, the late Dr. Robert Kemper for 20+ years. The church provided years of enjoyment within the Women’s Society, Questers, the handbell choir and the wedding committee. Her love of Western Springs inspired her to volunteer for many committees, including the Board of Education, the Historical Society, the Architectural and Appearance Committee and of course, her many years as a Girl Scout leader.
Peggy took a sincere interest in all those she encountered, she was a true friend to all
and will be dearly missed. A celebration of her life will be held at the First Congregational Church of Western Springs, on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 11:00am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name to The Eleanor Ellis Public Library, 4495 Town Hall Road, Phelps, Wisconsin 54554 are appreciated.
Arrangements entrusted to Hallowell & James Funeral Home, Countryside at 708-352-6500.

Peggy will be greatly missed and she was a special lady! Peggy and the family have been sincere friends! She will have a special place in heaven! Thoughts and prayers to the family and friends!
Peggy was an inspiration and, with Ed, two wonderful people with whom we enjoyed many fun and thought-provoking conversations about politics local and otherwise, kids, families, laughing about leaving clothes at the lake house, and many others. She is missed. Sincerest condolences to her family of special people.

Hello to Scott, Sara and Laura… On behalf of the entire Davis family, we send our deepest condolences regarding the death of Peggy. While only Jim (Dru’s brother) Davis and his wife, Susan, were able to make it to the memorial service on June 17, our thoughts were with you and your families. Peg and Ed were my godparents and I have fond memories of spending time with them, particularly in Phelps, WI. They were always welcoming and kind to me, and I always felt comfortable wandering over to their house (whether at the Hazen Lodge or the house further down Long Lake). I miss seeing them there and am glad that Sara and Dan were able to keep the house. I remember well the different events that Peg and Ed went to with my parents, Dru and Sally, including work events for Davis-Gross Insurance, volunteer activities, cocktail parties and parent trips (to Jamaica and elsewhere). One auction they went to resulted in the Davis family acquiring a small motor bike that we rode constantly on Charleys Road and Hazen Lane in Phelps. The bike finally met its fate when the brakes failed and it crashed into a tree in the woods. Fortunately, I jumped off just in time before it hit the tree. That story got a lot of mileage on the Long Lake cocktail party circuit that summer. On a less dramatic note, I know Peg was an advocate of reading and was a contributor to the Phelps Public Library. My family and I have also enjoyed going to that library for many years. The Davis Family will make a contribution there in Peg’s honor.
With love and fond memories to the entire Grosse Family….. Carrie Davis, Agustin Gomez-Leal, Sylvia Gomez and Ellie Gomez; in addition to Drury Davis and Diane Barkley, Sally Davis, Cameron Davis (Katelyn Varhely, Sage and Rio) and Kevin Davis (Caryn Etkin, Justin and Dylan).
Thank you Carrie for your kind words. Your family was(is) such a wonderful part of all of our lives!
