Ed was a great co-worker and friend. We enjoyed many adventures together during the years of working at W.P.D. Ed was always a wealth of information and always had interesting stories, Movie quotes or bits of history to share. Thanks Ed for the memories. Fly High! I will miss you. God Bless Barb, Jimmy & Eric.
I became a amateur radio operator in 2019. I got to know ED through several club repeaters. Ed would log into slow scan net and we would send pictures back and forth with other check in’s. Ed had a vast array of military jets and beautiful vintage cars. i never met him in person, but being from the southwest part of downers grove and Ed in woodridge i always considered him my neighbor. i will miss him deeply. he had a vast knowledge of many things.please accept my sympathy to his family. sincerely Steve McGrath
RIP Sgt. Ed Krause.. 0ver 4 decades of excellent service to the Woodridge Police Department and the Village of Woodridge. Ed was always professional, dedicated, personable and easy to talk with. My thoughts, prayers and sympathy are with the family. 🙏
Ed and I started out in the very early 1970s as entry-level officers, worked many cases together, and was my supervisor (Sergeant of Detectives) of the Woodridge Police Department. Ed was a pilot trainer and tested student pilots for their solo flights. Ed taught other police officers as a Field Training Officer and was a Rangemaster and gun expert. Ed’s vast knowledge of search and seizure, rules of evidence, and juvenile law made him a versatile and knowledgeable asset to the Woodridge and other Police agencies. Ed was also an active Ham Radio operator (FCC license W9EDK) and conducted several on-the-air nets features photographs utilizing slow=scan television, and several digital modes of operation. Many hams assisted Ed with the construction and installation of antennas enabling Ed to be able to “QSO” all over the world. He will be sorely missed by fellow Amateur Radio Operators, family, friends, and former colleagues. Rest easy, Sergeant Krause; Your colleagues will take it from here!
I met Ed through our common interest in ham radio. We would talk often over the air waves and he was a wealth of information. I learned much about the hobby from him. I had the good pleasure of meeting Ed one Saturday afternoon at his home. We sat on his deck, smoked cigars and talked about many things. Shared stories of our careers, hobbies , family and memorable experiences we had in our life. The 3 plus hours we spent together flew by. I felt like I knew him my whole life. He will be missed . Thanks Ed . God Bless.
Ed as a great friend and fellow officer. Will always cherish our yearly fishing trips to Wisconsin. Will miss him!
