Joan Dorothy Pavlik, 80, of Downers Grove, passed away August 5, 2021. Cherished daughter of Jerome Pavlik and Lillian (Kiefer). Beloved sister of Judith Pavlik and Arlene Jagoda. Devoted aunt of James Jagoda, Joan (Walter) Songaila, Michael Jagoda and Judith (James) Osowski. Also great-nieces and nephews. Visitation 3pm until Funeral Service 7pm Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 301-75th Street, Downers Grove. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital appreciated. Joan was a Diplomat for the United States Government – Department of State for 20 years, serving all over the world. She was a member of the Nomad Ski Club for many years. Funeral home 630/964-6500

Sorry we were not aware of this tribute page at the time of Joan’s passing. . Judy, Mooker and family, Jerry and I loved Joanie . She was such a thoughtful gal. We are so sorry she had to go, but happy knowing she is in heaven and we will all meet again someday. Hoping you are all doing as well as possible.

So sorry to hear of Joanie’s passing. I served with her both at the State Department in Washington and at the Embassy in Nairobi. Nairobi was my first posting. Joanie met me at the airport and told me we had a holiday weekend and were scheduled for a safari for the next three days! I knew then and there I was in the right career!
So sorry to hear of Joanie’s passing, she was a good neighbour when we were living in Oslo. Our daughter Lisa who is now 40yrs loved visiting her in the flat next door where she would sit on a tiny stool which Joanie had and drink her Dr Pepper.
Loved receiving her letters when she left Oslo always brought a smile.
