Nancy M. Jacobus

Nancy M. (née Cruickshank) Jacobus, age 82, of Western Springs; beloved wife of the late William C. Jacobus; loving mother of Kelley (Paul) Heller & Craig (Dani O’Shea) Jacobus; proud grandmother of Matthew (Michele) Heller, Joshua (Sarah) Heller, Padraig Jacobus, Molly Jacobus, & Liam Jacobus; great-grandmother of Payton Heller, Christopher Heller, & Madison Heller; dear sister of Linda (Donald) Wood; loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Nancy grew up in Cicero, Illinois and graduated from Morton High School, then Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing.  She married Bill February 6, 1960, and they shared 52 years of loving marriage before Bill’s passing in 2012.  They raised their family in Riverside, then moved to Western Springs when their children were grown.  Nancy spent 41 years of her nursing career at LaGrange Memorial Hospital where she worked in the Intensive Care Unit, and then as a nursing supervisor for many years until her retirement.  She loved her nursing career and thought of her coworkers at the hospital as an extended family for whom she cared deeply, even after her retirement.  She was an active member of Cicero Bible Church, and served in the nursery, Vacation Bible School, and youth Sunday School during the early years of her marriage.  Later, she was an active member of the LaGrange Bible Church where she enjoyed serving in the ministry of the Food Pantry.  Her love for Jesus and desire to serve Him by serving others was a cornerstone of her life. Nancy enjoyed travelling, vacationing at the beach, cooking, entertaining, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.

Visitation Sunday, August 15th at1 p.m. until time of Funeral Service, 3 p.m., at LaGrange Bible Church, 850 7th Ave, LaGrange, IL 60525. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Nancy’s name to LaGrange Bible Church are appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Hallowell & James Funeral Home, Countryside. Info: (708) 352-6500.

  1. “Jake”was always cheerful and helpful as a nursing supervisor. She was faithful as a nursing alumnae at our retired nurses’ luncheons. Her love for her family was so evident. God bless her and May His light shine upon her.

    1. I always liked “Jake” and frequently thought of her throughout retirement. She was a wonderful supervisor at the hospital and an extraordinary person. God bless her.

  6. I remember many wonderful times with Nancy. She had a great sense of humor. She guided me through many situations during my early nursing career that I have passed onto younger nurses. She will be missed. Big hugs to her family members.
