Sister Lucia Marie Gibbons, C. S. J., 94, beloved member of the Congregation of St. Joseph of LaGrange Park, Illinois, celebrating 73 years of Religious Life. Loving daughter of the late Robert David Gibbons and the late Lucia (Posen) Gibbons. Devoted sister of Gerald Gibbons and the late: Donald Gibbons and Rita Gibbons Leisen. Dear aunt of 16 and their families and she was a great-aunt of many. Sr. Lucia graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Rosary College in 1950 and a Master of Arts degree in English from Marquette University in 1961. Over her long career, Sister Lucia taught elementary school at Our Lady of Bethlehem and St. Joseph Academy in LaGrange Park, St. Francis Xavier, LaGrange, Mt. Carmel, Chicago Heights, St. John Fisher, Chicago and St. Mary, Columbus, Mississippi. She taught secondary school at Nazareth Academy, LaGrange Park and St. Paul High School, Chicago. She also served as Pastoral Associate at St. Hubert, Hoffman Estates. Sr. Lucia served in various ministries within her St. Joseph Congregation. Due to the pandemic, Visitation, Mass, and Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Congregation of St. Joseph appreciated. Sr. Lucia was a dear friend of my sister, Sister Judy Flinn and a dear friend of our family. She was so caring and thoughtful and I know she will be missed by her community. She will be in our prayers.

Sister Lucia and l were roommates for a very short time. Many times I would just watch her and the Spirit was so very strong. Sister good bye and thank for the time we spent together.
