Lois Lucille DeLacy, nee Laffin, 90, of Granite Bay, CA, passed away suddenly on October 14, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Otto W. Drews in 1982 and by her husband of 29 years, Donald R. DeLacy, in 2015. Also preceding her in death were her brother, Milton C. (Rosemarie) Laffin, and sister and brother-in-law, Jean (Jack) Wickham. Lois is survived by niece, Jill A. (Richard) Marten and nephew, Thomas D. (Maryann) Wickham, both of Woodridge, IL. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Rosemarie Laffin, step-children, Thomas L. (Erin) DeLacy, Colette M. (Don) Pike, Yvonne (Brian) Stevens, and Therese (late Rick) Sturgeon. She was aunt, great-aunt, great-great-aunt and step-grandmother to many loving youngsters.
Lois was born in Chicago, IL on August 17, 1931. Her family worked hard getting through the Depression and valued time spent with extended family in the Chicago, IL and Wausau, WI areas. Lois had dear friends growing up that formed a club called The Square Circle. Lois ran for high school class president at a time when the position was generally male-dominated. Her social interests included Vincent Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star activities. She began her post-high school career as a secretary at Armour and Company, where she met her first husband, Otto W. Drews. They were married in Chicago, IL on October 4, 1955. In the early 1960s, they moved to California for a job opportunity for her husband. They lived several places on the west coast before settling in San Mateo, CA. Later, while living in San Mateo, Otto passed away.
Lois’ career path included secretarial and administrative assistant positions at J C Penney, Interpace, and Visa. She planned many international meetings and worked for many years for the founder of Visa.
Lois married Donald R. DeLacy on November 23, 1985. They enjoyed traveling, dancing, and an occasional trip to Bay Meadows Racetrack! After living in San Mateo, CA, they retired to Granite Bay, CA in December 2000.
We will always remember her “life of the party” energy, her lilting laugh, and the generosity she demonstrated.
