John M. Grace joined his wife, Marianne (nee O’Brien), in eternal rest on December 25th, 2021.
A Current resident of Indian Head Park, he was a former resident of Chicago and Willowbrook. He attended St. Lawrence High School and the Illinois Institute of Technology. As a member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, John lived to trade commodities. Always the analytic, John was a living almanac of sports statistics. Chicago teams were John’s primary love, but he had a big heart and would watch any game in any sport with interest and enthusiasm. For many years, John and Marianne hosted epic Kentucky Derby parties for friends and family.
John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marianne, and his parents, John and Marjorie Grace. John is survived by his bother-in-law, Michael O’Brien (Stacey), his niece Kate O’Brien, and his nephew, Kyle O’Brien.
A celebration of life will be held on the weekend of the Kentucky Derby to remember John and honor his promise to Marianne.
Arrangements entrusted to Hallowell & James Funeral Home, Countryside at 708-352-6500.

May you enjoy your everlasting reunion with Marianne. You will be missed by many. Rest In Peace.
A wonderful, generous man. It was a blessing to know John.
He arranged for my son, Michael Farina, to be awarded a $5000.00 yearly IIT Alumni Scholarship.
John called me, out of the blue, so to speak, about the Scholarship.
He was an Alumni. He got Michael the scholarship.
It was so kind. It was so John Grace.

John was a great guy and a terrific partner to Marianne. May he Rest In Peace.
Wow, took me by surprise. I grew up with John in the sixties in the Chicago SW side neighborhoods of Crestlline/Scottsdale. John and I initially met bowling at Scottsdale Bowl on 83rd and Cicero. John and I stayed Dr together thru junior league on into men’s league 25+ years. Other significant friends were Gary Coop and Bernie Blackburn. John was an accomplished competitive bowler which was unique in that he was able to adapt his frame and be able to compete at the highest local competition. Bowling being a blue collar sport John had the ability to blend in with people from a variety of occupations. Even with his success in the financial industry you weren’t aware of anything different in his demeanor. Had several memorable trips to Las Vegas with him and Marianne. Thought that something like this had occurred but will keep him in my memories. God Bless!
