Joseph Nicholas Costello, Sr.

Joseph Nicholas Costello, Sr., 94, of Downers Grove.  Originally a Chicago Police Officer and later a successful land developer in the south suburbs during the 1970’s and 80’s.  He was a man of faith, who shared his Christian beliefs with everyone he met.  He always said, “keep the faith and trust in the Lord always.” Beloved husband of the late Dorothy.  Loving father of Donna (Al) Serpico, Mary (Carl) Putnam, Carol (John) Stalman, Joe Costello, Jr., Michael (Lisa) Costello, Tony (Chris) Costello and the late Raymond (Anita) Costello.  Devoted grandfather of 22.  Dear great-grandfather of 23 and great-great-grandfather of 2.  Fond brother of Rita (late Thomas) Naughton and the late Emmett (Nancy) Costello, the late Nancy (late Lou) LaPonte and the late Carmella (late Frank) Guido.  Dear uncle of many.  Services and interment private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to The Costello Family Foundation, P.   1. I just learned about Mr. Joe Costello Sr….. : ( .

    I’m so sorry….. to hear about your & my loss. I liked Mr. Sr. so much . He was very smart and respectful man . I can listen …..and the same time learn from his stories .He was very powerful ,but he makes me feel like equal .
    He told me few times that we are Friends. And believe me …for some reason I do not have lot of Friends. So, that meant lot to me !
    I believe ….. I still own him a lunch ….in Omega Restaurant in D.G . So please God, help him…. if Mr. Joe Sr. ,needs yours assistance. And I’m going to try to pay You back.
    My condolences to the Family. Rest In Peace Mr. Joe . I do miss you greatly. You will always have a special place and memories in my heart.

  2. We just had my dad, Jerry Woolley, over for Father’s Day. Joe was one of his best friends. Dad said he had been trying to call Joe for a long time and couldn’t get through to him. Right then I looked up Joes name in fear of what I would find and lo and behold here was Joe’s obit. My sister and I could not tell dad on Fathers Day that one of his oldest friends had passed. Joe was an amazing man. Full of love and so very interesting. We loved his stories, the way he dressed, the jewelry he wore….We are going to miss him dearly. Our deepest condolences to the whole Costello family.
