Dr. Robert Alan Mulliken, 63, of Western Springs, IL passed away peacefully at home on March 7, 2022. Robert was born in Elgin on September 7^th, 1958 to Dr. Wallace and Barbara Mulliken. As a young boy, Robert always wanted to be a doctor. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1976. He continued his education at the University of Illinois undergraduate, followed by the University of Illinois College of Medicine.

Robert was double boarded, completing residencies in Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois and Emergency Medicine at the University of Chicago. Dr. Mulliken was on the staff of the University of Chicago, Emergency Medicine, for over 30 years until his early retirement in 2022. At the University of Chicago ER, he treated many patients with incredible clinical skill as well as compassion, no matter who they were or where they came from. In addition to treating the sick and wounded, Dr. Mulliken also trained a multitude of residents who have gone on to have academic careers in Emergency Medicine, many who have expressed that their careers were shaped by his mentorship.

Robert was an avid golfer, who loved being on the green with a Heineken and a cigar. In the summer, Robert like to take his boat onto Lake Michigan with his sons. He also enjoyed going to the shooting range with his sons.

He is survived by his sons; Robert of Chicago and Michael of Pennsylvania, his former wife Renee, his mother Barbara and sister Judith of Elgin, his brother and sister-in-law Dr. Brian and Debbie Mullilken of Baltimore, MD and his significant other Caitlin West of Western Springs.

Services will be held on March 19^th, 2022 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55^th St., Countryside, IL 60525. Visiting hours will be from 11am until time of Chapel Service, 1pm. Interment private. Funeral Info: 708-352-6500
