Donald M. Novotny; proud US Navy World War II Veteran; age 95; of Marco Island, FL and Palmyra, WI; formerly of Western Springs, IL passed away on May 4, 2022, in Gainesville, FL. He was the beloved husband of the late Viola Patricia “Pat” Novotny (nee Herbert) for 62 years; the loving father of Donald Jr. (Monica), Ronald (Lisa) and Nancy (Dr. Richard) Pinney; dear grandfather of Ricky, Steve (Hilal), Caitlin (Patrick), Melissa, Coder (Jackie), Donnie and Victoria; great-grandfather of five; brother of the late Barbara Roberts; uncle and friend to many.

Prior to retirement, Don was President of Ideal Millwork Co, Plainfield, IL and Novotny Builders, Western Springs, IL. Don was a kind and thoughtful man. He was a mentor and teacher who touched the lives of innumerable people. He was always available to support family and friends and his guidance, knowledge and judgment were treasured by all who knew him. He truly was the epitome of the “Greatest Generation”, and he will be missed immensely.

Visitation Monday, May 16, 10:30am until time of service 12:30pm, at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St. Countryside, IL. Interment Clarendon Hills Cemetery, Darien, IL, immediately following service.
