George Barringer Rennie, age 95, of LaGrange; beloved husband for 70 years of the late Audrey (née Gibbons) Rennie; loving father of Jill Rennie Giddings (Gregory Otto) & Dana Rennie (Mike Kirkpatrick); proud grandfather of Paul Giddings & Audrey Giddings.

George passed away at home on December 16,2022 with his loving daughters by his side, and while under the care of St. Thomas Hospice.

He was born, raised and lived in Chicago until he moved his family to La Grange, IL in 1959. He proudly served in the United States Navy in World War II and the United States Army in Korea. He worked for Hyster lift truck company until he retired in 1986.

He took his family on many trips all across the United States to enjoy nature and visit many national parks. He was an avid golfer, bicyclist and animal lover.  Once retired, he enjoyed building furniture in his workshop, playing golf, bicycling and spending time with family.

George will be remembered for his sharp wit, outgoing personality and thoughtfulness. His creativity and sense of adventure made his children’s and grandchildren’s childhoods magical.

The family would like to thank Edward Hines Jr. VA hospital for the outstanding care he received, and the support given to the family, and to St. Thomas hospice for the care in his home.

Per George’s request there will not be a service. Memorial donations in George’s name to PAWS Chicago (www.pawschicago.org) are appreciated.
