Nicholas C. Furio

Nicholas C. Furio, age 89, of Downers Grove, passed away March 11, 2023. Beloved husband of the late Mary Furio. Loving Father of Mary (Tom) Wisnionski, Jim (Dawn) Furio, Gina (John) May, Randy (Kathy) Furio and Michael (Michelle) Hill. Fun loving Papa of Carli (Ryan) Waszak, Teagan (Kevin) Fleming, Devin Furio, Jamie Furio, Graham Nelson (Zoe, Fiancé), Andrew Wisnionski, Hailey Furio (Carson, Fiancé), Nathan Wisnionski, Cade Nelson, and Kennedy Nelson. Dear great papa of Colton, Brody, Jaxson, and Taylor.

Nicholas met Mary at a ranch in Michigan. This group of friends would go on to visit this ranch as well as another ranch in Wisconsin annually for the next 50 years. He loved to sing, dance, travel, and most importantly spend time with his children, grand-children, and great grand-children. He was the life of the party. The grandkids did their best to keep up with Papa. He would stay up until 2am playing cards and sipping on the occasional glass of scotch. He never wanted to miss out on time with family and friends. He was always the last one to leave a party. Nicholas served his country in the United States Army from 1954-1956. Nicholas sang with a group called The Good News Singers at church for many years. He spent most of his career in real-estate in Chicago. He loved Chicago so much that he enjoyed his career until he was 77 years young. He had a fulfilling social life with many friends.

  1. R I P(aradise) Nick. My fondest memory is your time singing The Good News at St Scholastica many years ago. If you can’t find Mary, she’s probably standing on her head somewhere with a crowd of friends near her.

  2. What an inspiration on how life is supposed to be lived. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren are his legacy. He lived with class, and died with faith, comfort and dignity. I am a better person for getting to know Papa.
