Kathleen Mary Hartigan

Kathleen Mary Hartigan, of Galewood, passed away May 7, 2023.

Kathleen lived her life to the fullest, and collected friends wherever she went.

Kathi, as she was known, graduated from Trinity High School and Mosher Business College.  Secretarial work was not for her, however.  She traveled to New York and Malibu to pursue a career in fashion modeling.

Eventually returning to Chicago, Kathi worked in the restaurant business, where she rubbed elbows with Chicago’s elite. She became the owner of Chicago Loop News, where she enjoyed covering the social and political events of the Near North Side.

Kathi loved music and dancing, spending time in Lake Geneva, throwing herself a birthday party every  year and wearing one of her many hats at a Derby party.

She is survived by her beloved brother, Hon. Russ Hartigan (Susan).

Kathi was the proud Aunt of Michael (Nicole), Brian (Katie), and Kelly (Adam Tybor), and seven great nieces and nephews.  She was also fond of her cousin, Hon. Neil Hartigan.

She is greatly missed by her dog, Isabella.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Trinity High School or PAWS are greatly appreciated.

  3. So sorry to hear about Kathi’s passing. I knew Kathi since the early 80’s. I lived off rush Street where Kathi was of prominent stature. I also had a Column in Steve and Kathi’s Loop News. What a dynamic person to say the very least! She will be missed. 🙁
