Dave Bremer, 72, of Western Springs, Illinois, passed away on October 23, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on March 2, 1951 in Chicago, Dave was a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend. He was known for his warmth, kindness, intelligence, and humor, and touched the lives of many with his unconditional love and compassion.
Dave was a pillar of strength and support for his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Bremer, nee Gierlasinski; and his cherished sisters, Helen Capdevielle, Betty O’Shaughnessy (Kevin), Mary Grace Jewell, and Christine Bremer Muggli (Paul), as well as his brother-in-law, Norman Gierlasinski (Carol). Dave will be deeply missed by his eight nephews and nieces and nine great-nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his mother, Ruth Bremer, his brother Bobby Bremer, and his niece Diana Jewell.
Educated at St. George High School, Dave continued his studies at Loyola University of Chicago and the Center for Pastoral Studies at Loyola University. His career included working at the Chicago Transit Authority, teaching at the College of DuPage, and serving as a counselor-therapist at Glenoaks Hospital. Through his compassionate guidance and support, Dave had a profound impact on the lives of numerous individuals.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Dave found solace and joy in his involvement with the Theatre of Western Springs. Since 1981, he actively participated both onstage and backstage, contributing his talent and enthusiasm to the local theater community. His dedication and love for the arts will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of witnessing his performances. Dave also had a deep affection for animals, particularly his beloved collies, Lexi and Lucy, whose companionship brought him immeasurable happiness and comfort.
Dave’s friends and family are planning a celebration of his life to be held in the coming months. It will be an opportunity for loved ones to gather and share cherished memories of Dave.

It’s so sad that Dave passed on. Gosh, I talked to him just a short time ago. He did so much for the theater of Western Springs, and he seemed to always be there, as well as upbeat about his medical condition. The whole theater deserves condolences. I took some photos of him over the years and that is how I remember him. The theatrical photo was from “The Government Inspector” when he played a character named “Osip” who was the wise, insightful manservant.
