James P. Ramp, 83, passed away on November 13, 2023 with family by his side. Jim was the cherished husband of Joan Jacobs Ramp, loving father to Curtis Ramp, Kevin Ramp, and Karin (James) Dunbar, proud grandfather to Andrew Reif, Sokka Ramp, Ashton Ramp, Evangeline Ramp, Lydia Dunbar, and Landon Dunbar, dear brother of Judy (Dennis) Pietrzak, the late Mary Jean (John) Mills, Sue (Yale) Jaffe, and Steve (Anne Marie) Ramp, caring uncle, cousin, & friend to many.
Jim’s life spoke volumes in its simplicity. He was a man of few words, he possessed a quiet strength that resonated with everyone who knew him. Jim never complained, instead he would remind everyone that “In 100 years, none of this will matter.”
Jim found excitement in hobbies like skydiving and windsurfing. Later in life, he replaced them with racquetball, riding his bike, and grabbing a cup of coffee. Jim’s dry sense of humor added a special touch to the moments he shared with loved ones, leaving behind memories that will be cherished for years to come.
Professionally, Jim served as a Systems Analyst for the Federal Government, where his commitment to excellence made a lasting impact.
Jim and his family created many memories in his favorite vacation spot, Madeira Beach, FL where he found joy in playing tennis, windsurfing, and laying on the beach.
Friends and family are invited to honor Jim’s memory during a visitation starting at 1pm, followed by a brief service at 4pm on Friday, November 24, at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Interment will be private.
Funeral information: (708) 352-6500
Jim was the best man at my wedding. Also, he was the best man I ever knew. He had it all. He was a tall, good looking man and a great athlete. He was kind, caring and generous. Jim was intelligent and could always make people laugh. He will be missed by all who knew him.
So sorry … he was lucky to have you to take care of him.
Joanie, I am so sorry for your loss. I never knew him but knowing you, he must have been wonderful. My prayers for you and your family.
