Michael Dennis Brown, 72, of Western Springs, IL and Naples, FL passed away suddenly on December 1, 2023. Born to Martin James Brown and Virginia Belle Coate Brown on October 18, 1951, in Litchfield, IL, Michael graduated from Litchfield High School and later from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Pharmacy. His life was a remarkable journey of devotion to his family and professional ambition and achievement.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Kathleen Marie (nee Barron) Brown; his children, Michael Patrick (Christina) Brown, Kaitlin Colleen (Reilly) Cleal, and Connor James (Christina) Brown; and his adored grandchildren, Barron Peter Brown; Kennedy Kathleen Cleal; Rory Lee Cleal; Hazel Athena Brown; and Violet Swift Brown. Michael also leaves behind his brother and sister-in-law, James Martin Brown and Sue Caroline Brown. Michael was utterly devoted to his family, taking a special pride in his children’s professional success and their athletic achievements. He also loved spending time with his five adoring grandchildren, showering them with his affection and gentleness.
Michael embodied the American dream, rising from humble beginnings on a farm in Litchfield, IL to successfully leading several companies and dozens of employees through his dedication and hard work. Michael was a respected pharmacist and an accomplished entrepreneur. He founded and led several specialty pharmacy organizations in the Chicago area, including Twin Oaks, Woods, Lamperts, Damer and Cartwright, American Medical Services, and Healy Pharmacy. He started one of the area’s first specialty pharmacies, where his expertise in oncology and fertility medications helped hundreds of physicians and their patients.
An avid golfer, Michael was a dedicated member of Edgewood Valley Country Club in Burr Ridge, IL and Hideout Golf Club in Naples, FL. He particularly treasured memories of attending the Masters golf tournament in Augusta, Georgia, with his family, as well as a memorable golf trip he took to Scotland, the home of golf, visiting St. Andrews. His other interests included baseball, aviation, sailing, and a fondness for automobiles.
A man of deep faith, Michael was an active member of both St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Western Springs, IL, and St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Naples, Florida. His commitment to his faith and his country was unwavering.
A wake will be held on Friday, December 8th, from 4pm to 8pm CT at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, Countryside, IL. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 9th, at 11 AM CT at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, Western Springs, IL. Please meet directly at church. Friends and family are invited to join in commemorating Michael’s extraordinary life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, reflecting Michael’s lifelong commitment to God.

I just heard about your husband’s passing. I am saddened to read the obituary but his life sounded very fulfilling. I’m not sure if we ever met but I remember you speaking of him many times when we bowled together a lifetime ago. I will keep you in my prayers. May he rest in peace.
