Margaret Dianne Grant

Margaret Dianne Grant (nee Callahan), 86. Beloved and devoted wife of Vincent Grant, Sr. for 62 years. Loving mother of Eve (Michael), Vincent Jr. (Liauna), Christopher (Sharon), Marybeth, Gilbert (Laura). Dear grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Dianne passed on January 25, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Eva, and brother, James. She leaves behind her brothers, Michael and Patrick (Deborah), and sister-in-law, Rose Mary.

Dianne was devoted to her faith and family. At St. John of the Cross Parish, she co-founded the Caring and Sharing ministry, Share Christmas, and the food collection, which is shared with several parishes. She was a Communion Minister at Mass and an Extraordinary Minister who brought Communion to hospitals and homebound parishioners for over 30 years. Dianne was loved for her kindness, compassion, and wonderful sense of humor. She was a friend to many, and the first person to be contacted in a time of need.

Services for Dianne will be held at St. John of the Cross Parish Church, 5005 South Wolf Rd, Western Springs, IL 60558 on Saturday, February 17, 2024. Visitation: 10am, followed by Mass at 11am. Interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, masses would be appreciated.

Arrangements are being handled by Hallowell & James Funeral Home, Countryside at 708-352-6500.

  1. Dianne was a good friend and one of the first persons I could call when I needed prayers. She would often end our phone calls by reciting the Our Father. She had the cutest sense of humor. May she rest in peace. If she isn’t in heaven now, I am sure she will be there shortly. She was truly a saint here on earth. Gods bless the Grant family. Marilyn Vorsanger

  2. So sorry to hear this news. I met Dianne about 40 years ago when I volunteered to work on one of the first Share Christmas projects. She was so kind and funny, too. In later years, our paths would cross at mass or around town. She truly was a loving, caring, and genuinely nice lady! My prayers and condolences to her family.

    She was a great lady and always so attentive to those in need of care and she was always so friendly and fun.

  5. Dear Grant Family, I am so sorry for the loss of your lovely Diane. She was a true ray of sunshine when she would bring communion to our ailing mother, Jacque Walsh.
