Karen A. McMahon, age 66, of Countryside, passed away on March 3rd, 2024. Beloved wife of Tim McMahon; loving mother of Brian (Jodi) McMahon & Ashlee (Mark) VanEtten; proud grandmother of Isla & Brant McMahon and Stella & Sidney VanEtten; loving dog mom of the late Autumn Deelee; cherished daughter of the late Robert & the late Mary Meister; dear sister of Robert (Kimberly) Meister, the late Dennis “Koz” (Charlene) Meister, and the late Ronald Meister; fond sister-in-law of Patricia (Joe) Mahon and Mike (Gwynne) McMahon.
Karen was the type of person that never knew a stranger. She was full of life, lit up each and every room she walked into, and was known for her whistle that could be heard from miles away. Her love for cooking was evident in everything she did and was always prepared to share her recipes with others. Karen was a wonderful grandmother and enjoyed traveling to visit her grandkids and grand dogs.
Memorial visitation 4 to 8pm on Friday, March 8 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Interment private.
Funeral information: (708) 352-6500
I give my utmost condolences to Tim & entire McMahon & Meister families.
I am a neighbor of Tim & Karen McMahon on 71st in Countryside. My deceased brother Ed knew the McMahons along with my sister Marie & I Martha. In 1994 our cat Kitty escaped our house & was sitting on the McMahons front porch with their cat.
Finally our cat Kitty did come back home.
Karen told me the cats enjoyed each other on their front porch.
I will cherish seeing Karen in the neighborhood
& seeing her working at Walgreens in Indian Head Park. Karen always had a GREAT SMILE & WAS ALWAYS FRIENDLY & ENJOYABLE TO TALK WITH. I HAD SOME GOOD LAUGHS WITH HER.
Prayers & thoughts to Tim & entire McMahon & Meister families.
WE WILL ALL MISS YOU KAREN. R.I.P. KAREN.
You will always be miss you have a place in my heart ❤️ 💙 💜 💖
My deepest sympathy goes to Tim, Brian and Ashlee and all who love her. Karen and I could see each other with long spans of time between but easily catch up with each other. Was nice to go to Walgreens when it was slow. She was always willing to help with anything when volunteering at Pleasantdale School. She was a fun person to be around. I know her presence will be missed by so many.
I am having a mass said for Karen at Mary Queen of Peace in Sammamish, WA. Praying that God will give all of you strength to carry you through this difficult time.
I’m so sorry to hear. I’ll never forget how Karen was a great Jazzercise class manager and she was so wonderful to my kids! Prayers for Tim, Brian and Ashley.
I am sorry to hear of Karen’s passing. She was a true asset to our neighborhood. She will be missed by all of us!
My thoughts and prayers to Tim and his family.
A happy go lucky girl who was loved by all she came in contact with. She had an infectious laugh that no one could ever forget. Besides her immediate family she always greeted us with “Hey Cuz”!! My prayers are with you Tim, Brian, Ashlee and all the grandkids. Karen will be truly missed but never forgotten. RIP “CUZ” 😥🙏
Things I’ll never forgot about Karen….
I’ll never forget her smile.
I’ll never forget her infectious laugh.
I’ll never forget her beautiful curly hair in grade school.
I’ll never forget how she put others before herself.
I’ll never forget how she believed in me and would boldly say “you can do it Laurie Kawa, you can do it”.
I’ll never forget that “cover your ears” whistle.
I’ll never forget her fearlessness and her unparalleled strength.
I’ll never forget how her face lit up when she talked about her family, especially her kids.
I’ll never forget how she could make the nuns at St. Bruno’s break a smile in the face of adversity…Sister Septemia had finally met her match!
I’ll never forget how she would talk to anyone, like she had known them for years!
I’ll never forget how she rarely complained even when she had every right to do so.
I’ll never forget how proud and excited she was when the senior class chose her to give the speech at our graduation Breakfast.
I’ll never forget how she broke down racial barriers in high school. It didn’t matter if you were Black, White , Hispanic or Asian. We were all equal in her eyes.
I’ll never forget how she would stand with her hands across her chest or on her hips while she surmised a situation.
I’ll never forget her drive to try new things when many of us didn’t have the courage…I so wanted to be more like her.
Karen, you were my very first friend. We’ve known each other since kindergarten. I couldn’t ask for a more genuine friend. I miss you and will NEVER forget you. I love you Karen….Laurie
All of you have my utmost sympathy and condolence. Just observing all the
family photos showed me how much
Karen loved her family. KAREN MADE
THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE. FOR THIS,
SHE HAS HER SPECIAL PLACE IN HEAVEN
FOREVER.
