Constantine L. Karkazis
Constantine (Dean) L. Karkazis, age 64; loving father of Alexander (Tori), Nicholas, and Christopher; son of the late Lambros C. and the late Helen M. Karkazis; dear brother of John (Jill) and Eve (Chris) Kappas; loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Dean was born and raised in the Galewood neighborhood of Chicago. He was a graduate of Steinmetz High School where he lettered in basketball. He also graduated from the University of Illinois and was a lifetime Illini fan. He enjoyed attending football games with his college friends. Dean had a long career as a sales executive in the technology industry. He was very proud of his children’s accomplishments. He loved coaching and attending his children’s athletic events. He was an avid golfer, basketball player, and moviegoer who never missed a premier. Dean was an eternal optimist who always exuded positivity to his family and friends.
Visitation 9:30am until time of Funeral Service, 10am on Tuesday, May 28 at Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, 2501 S. Wolf Rd., Westchester, IL 60154. Interment Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org/donate) or to Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church.

Dean or “Greek” as I called him will be sorely missed at our Saturday Night poker games. He always brought a smile and a sense of humor that would often “lighten up” stressful moments. His love of the I-L-L -I-N-I was unflappable. Rest well from this Wolverine.

Although I normally saw Dean on an infrequent basis, usually at our annual Thanksgiving morning “Turkey Bowl” game at White Eagle Park, I must say that I always enjoyed the interaction as teammates.
Dean was always upbeat and had an amiable and likable demeanor, which I always envied.
Dean’s personality and style will be missed, yet clearly it is reflected within his three wonderful and respectful sons.

Dean had an uplifting soul who listened, questioned, and gave his sincere, honest opinion on whatever topics we discussed. I met Dean playing against him in a basketball league and he was brute towards me, in a good, clean way. We spent many years going to lunch together and discussing life’s challenges and how much we loved our kids. Dean made sure he put his kids first in every situation and was so proud of them. I will miss you my friend and we will meet again on the upstairs basketball court.
As second cousins we had been met a few times in Greece in family gatherings and once in Chicago…he will be always remembered as our kind and fun cousin from America!
May he rest in peace.. May his family and friends always remember him for his kindness and bright personality
I worked with Dean for many years at Xerox. He was a great friend, and always had
a way of making people smile. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends. May his memory be eternal.
I also worked with Dean at Xerox and am so sad to hear this news. He was a proud of his children. Proud of his heritage and the Illini. He always did the right thing at work with passion and suffered no fools. He was a good listener and conversationalist. Please accept my condolences.

Dean was a fantastic and larger than life person. I remember Dean In Greece 1972 and when he would come to Moline to visit his cousins. He was truly outstanding in every sense of the word and accomplished a great deal in life, And touched so many lives in a positive way Doing so.
