David B. Baptist, age 74, of Downers Grove.  Beloved husband of Judith for 48 years.  Loving father of Brian, Matthew (Cecil), Joseph (Takumi) and Benjamin (Diana).  Proud grandfather of Yurika, Mika, Alaina, Declan, Jane, Henry, Alexandra and David.   Devoted brother of Jeremy (late Avis) Baptist, Sally (Bob) Kinsey-day, Peggy (Bill) Hansen and Daniel Baptist.  Brother-in-law of John (Nancy) Sheehy, Patricia Sheehy and the late Michael Sheehy.  Dear uncle to many.  Dr. Baptist served as a family dentist for 48 years and was devoted to his patients and staff which spanned multiple generations.  Visitation 3-9 p.m. Wednesday September 11th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 301 75th St., Downers Grove.  Visitation will continue 10 a.m. Thursday September 12th until time service 11 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment private.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital appreciated.  Funeral info 630-964-6500

  1. My thoughts and prayers are with the whole Baptist family. He will be truly missed. Phenomenal dentist and a wonderful person.

  2. What a shock! Dr. Dave has been my dentist for 30 yrs. What a wonderful , caring man. He was also the dentist to my two boys and husband. He always cared and asked about the family.
    My thoughts and prayers for the family. His boys will continue with concern for their patients.

  4. Dr. David was a wonderful dentist. I had received a letter informing me that he had retired and I sent a card. I am saddened to learn of his passing. My sincerest condolences to Mrs. Judy and Dr. Brian, as well as the rest of the family. You will be in my prayers.

  5. David was a wonderful person. He always made a point of talking to my parents every time he saw them. He was always interested in hearing the stories my father and Uncle Jim would share with us. Dave worked with my parents when they needed dental care and Dave worked with them so they were not only able to afford proper fitting dentures but would follow up with them to make sure everything was working out for them.
    I am sad that I won’t be able to stop in and say hello when I come home again. Please know that Judy and the boys are in my prayers. I have made a gift of 25.00 to St. Jude’s in honor of David.

  7. I am was so sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Baptist. My husband and I have been going to this practice for 5 years or so. Our dentist retired after we had been going to him for 35 years. The moment I met Dr. David on my first visit, I felt at home. What a sweet and kind person. He definitely has passed his caring nature onto his sons. My heartfelt sympathy to his wife, children and grandchildren.

  8. I want to send my respect and express my sorrow on the passing of David. He’s touched the lives of countless people and has pushed the world a little more in the direction of good. He will be missed.
