Always was such a marvelous person to be around. His famous Duke walk will always be in my memory for ever. He always was such a jubilant guy. Never saw him being down always happy and joking. Will miss him very much.
I had the pleasure of working with Duke in Englewoid he was the biggest John Wayne fan i ever met. He made coming to work fun Rest In Peace Pilgrim. You will be greatly missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing you.
I met “Duke” on the job and later worked special employment with him many times. I’ve heard him described as a “legend” but moreover I knew him as a ‘character,’ one of the many unforgetables on the job. I respected him for his continued dedication and service as a United States Marine along with his service in Vietnam.
His memory and impressions of many of the lines in most of the John Wayne movies were amazing and entertaining to say the least. He remained a dedicated grunt “In Country” and “On the Streets” of Chicago.
He was a true family man in every respect.
You will forever be known and respected as a Marine, a good copper, friend and…”Legend.”
May our gracious Lord invite you into His Kingdom for your ultimate and deserved, “Welcome Home.”
Semper Fi Marine.
I also knew Jim from the job and he was quite the character. Worked a few movies with him and it was always enjoyable.
I knew Jim through my brother, Kevin Duffy. Great guy. Would sit up at the Dubliner talking old John Wayne movies and South Shore stories. Alamo, say
hi to all our Windy City Vets up there. Semper Fidelis
Marine.
May you have fair winds and following seas shipmate.
Condolences to the family of Jim Lynch. I knew Jim from St Philip Neri in South Shore. Jim was well known as a John Wayne aficionado, with his trademark John Wayne walk. He holds the world record for most watches for the Alamo, which I understand that he had it memorized.
