Richard “Dick” B. Pott

Richard “Dick” B. Pott; 96 years old; of Dowagiac, Michigan; formerly of Cicero, Illinois; passed away on October 6, 2024, after battling prostate cancer.

He was a Korean War Combat Veteran that saw action, while assigned to a heavy weapons unit. In 1951, he married the late Margaret (nee Parker), whom he met while roller skating during high school. They had two sons, Rick (Cathy) and Tom (Colleen). He was a proud grandfather of Amy (Dan) Falkenberg, Dr. Tom (Jenn) Pott, Rick (Dr. Emily) Pott, Kyle (Jamie) Pott, and Craig Pott. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.

Dick retired from Western Electric. When the doors finally closed, he shut off the lights, as he was a stationary engineer, working in the power plant supplying energy for the complex. Dick was a board member of the South Cicero Boys Baseball Association and a member of the Morton East Football Father. He served as a member of the J. Sterling Morton School Board, serving the late 1970s and the early 1980s. He was a 60-year member of the Berwyn Masonic Lodge.

Visitation 11am until 12pm Monday, October 14th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Interment to follow at Glen Oaks Cemetery, Hillside, where a short graveside service will be held. For Service Info: 708-352-6500

  1. This is for the Pott family, I am so sorry for the loss of your father. Losing a loved one is not an easy thing. However, as long as you carry them in your heart, he is not gone! Praying for your families, and your father, God bless all of you!

  2. Dick it was such a pleasure visiting with you the past few weeks. My sisters , Katy and Fran, and I enjoyed your company reminiscing of the past. You brought out an album of pictures of you wife (our cousin) uncles, grandparents and many relatives .

  3. My deepest sympathy to the entire Pott family. He sounded like an exceptional man who lived a good life and was loved by many. Sending prayers for strength in this sad time, and for the comfort in all the wonderful memories shared.

    Please accept my deepest condolences on your Dad’s passing.
    He certainly was a man to look up to. A pillar in our town of Cicero.
    He is now at peace, reunited with your Mom.
