Sheila Kundid

Sheila Kundid, age 82, of Willow Springs, passed away peacefully on November 20th, 2024. Beloved wife of Mirko; loving mother of Robert, Michael (Lisa), and Mark (Kimberly); cherished grandmother of Michael, Matthew, Daniel, Scott, Kevin, and Jason; devoted great-grandmother of Jenna, Delilah, Jaxon, and Noah Kundid; dearest sister of Michael (Irene) McGarry of Washington DC and Rita McGarry Geoghegan of Carlow, Ireland; pre-deceased by sisters Mary McGarry Feely, Anne McGarry Dunphy, Lily McGarry Finnegan, Eileen McGarry Brennan, Brigid McGarry, and brother Thomas McGarry; fond aunt and friend of many.

Visitation 5 to 8pm on Friday, November 29th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Visitation will continue on Saturday, November 30th from 9:30am until time of chapel prayers, 10:15am, on Saturday, November 30th. An 11am Funeral Mass will follow at St. John of the Cross Church, 5005 Wolf Rd., Western Springs. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Alsip.

  1. So deeply saddened by the death of my beloved sister, Sheila McGarry Kundid. Irene and I extend our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to Mirko, Robert, Michael, Mark, their families, as well as to the extended Kundid and McGarry families on the profound loss of their dear Sheila.
    I remember so fondly my happy childhood days growing up with my lovely sister, Sheila, in Country Leitrim, Ireland, as well as the many happy visits to Sheila’s home during my University of Wisconsin graduate student days, and in the years since. We will miss her so much but the happy memories and joyful times will remain in our hearts forever. May she rest in eternal peace,

We, wife Angela and family of the recently deceased Thomas McGarry, brother of dear Sheila, wish to extend our sincere condolences to Mirko, Robert, Michael, Mark and to all of Sheila’s extended Kundid and McGarry families, neighbours and friends. She was also truly blessed with her lovely grandchildren and great-grandchildren and we offer our deepest sympathy to all of you.
    I hold treasured memories of sharing time with Sheila many decades ago prior to her departure from County Leitrim, Ireland ,to the United States of America and I recall Sheila as a lovely, loving , bright and cheerful young woman.
    May she now enjoy the rewards of her Eternal rest, Amen.

  4. I extend my sincere condolences to Mirko, Robert, Michael, Mark and their families on the very sad loss of Aunt Sheila.
    While we never met, my late mother Eileen McGarry Brennan, Galway, Ireland, regularly spoke very fondly of Sheila, about their childhood days in Letrim, alongside their parents, William and Kate and their siblings.
    May Aunt Sheila Rest in Peace, she is now reunited with family who have gone before her.
    May your cherished memories bring you comfort as you navigate this journey of grief.

  5. We are so very sorry for you in the loss of dear Sheila. We extend our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to Mirko, Robert, Michael, Mark, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sympathies also to Michael and Rita on the death of your youngest sister and to all of Sheila’s extended Mc Garry and Kundid families.
    I have very fond memories of happy times together on my visit to Chicago and your home in 1976. Sheila had that infectious smile that would light up a room whenever you would meet her. I will always remember Aunt Sheila as kind, loving and with a big personality and zest for life.

While I never met with Sheila personally our late Mother Eileen Brennan (McGarry) spoke with much love about her and no doubt they are now reunited with their other siblings who have gone before them.
