Patricia Grady

Patricia Grady, age 83, a longtime resident of Indian Head Park, passed away peacefully on December 30th, 2024. Beloved wife of James, loving mother of James Jr. (Yuko), Robert (Susan), and Timothy (Leia); devoted grandmother of Liam, Nicolas, Makenna, Lucas, Peter, and Patrick; cherished sister of Marilyn (James) Kozicki and her late brother Jack (Betty) Torpy; dear daughter of the late John and Catherine Torpy; fond aunt and friend of many.

Pat graduated from the Academy of Our Lady High School (Longwood Academy), Marquette University, and earned a Masters Degree from Loyola University Chicago. Pat was a Chicago Public High School teacher before focusing full time on her family.

Those who knew Pat knew her to be a loyal friend, a sharp wit, and a doting grandmother. She earned Masterpoints in bridge and enjoyed athletic activities including tennis and golf.  Pat also had a passion for travel, but most of all, valued time with family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association are greatly appreciated.

Visitation will be from 3PM to 7PM on Thursday, January 9th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside.


Chapel prayers will be at 10:15AM on Friday, January 10th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass will be at 11AM on Friday, January 10th at St. John of the Cross Church, 5005 Wolf Rd., Western Springs. Interment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.

  1. PAT WAS A WONDERFUL AND LOYAL FRIEND. WE HAD FUN TOGETHER PLAYING TENNIS AND GOLF. I HAVE MANY NICE MEMORIES AND A LOT OF FUNNY QUOTES, I AM SORRY I CANNOT ATTEND HER SERVICE. SHE IS IN MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS. HOPEFULLY THE MANY GREAT MEMORIIES THE FAMILY HAS WILL HELP MITIGATE YOUR GRIEF.

    Helen and I send you our condolences regarding the death of Pat. We just saw the whole funeral mass at St. John of the Cross. We used to live up the hill from you at Coronet lane in Indian head pk. We moved to Sacramento, California to be close to my mother during the last few years of her life.
    We remember you and Pat as a very good neighbors and wanted you to know we appreciated knowing both of you as neighbors. Henry and Helen Marta
