In Loving Memory of Karen Kiousis
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Karen Kiousis, who left us on January 8th after a courageous and dignified battle with Alzheimer’s. She was 72 years old.
Karen was a woman of immense kindness, grace, and warmth. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her, radiating positivity and compassion in all that she did. As a mother, she was a constant source of love, support, and inspiration. Her heart was as big as her spirit, and her ability to make those around her feel valued and cherished was a gift that we will carry with us always.
Her laughter was contagious, her energy boundless, and her optimism unshakable. Karen’s love for her family was immeasurable. Whether through a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or simply being there when we needed her most, she was the rock upon which we stood.
Despite her illness, Karen faced every challenge with incredible strength and dignity. Her unwavering determination to keep fighting inspired all who knew her. Her legacy will not be defined by the disease that took her from us, but by the love and joy she gave to her family and friends, and the many lives she touched in her too-short time with us.
Karen leaves behind a husband, two daughters, two son-in-laws, and six beautiful grandchildren. Who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. She is also survived by countless friends, all of whom were lucky enough to have known her kind and radiant spirit.
A visitation will be held from 1pm to 5:30pm, with funeral service beginning at 5:30pm, on Friday, January 10th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside, where we will gather to celebrate her remarkable life, and to honor the love she gave us.
Though we will miss her deeply, we take comfort in knowing that her love will continue to surround us, and that her light will never fade.

Sending love and hugs to Nick and Kristy and Karie.
I have many memories that I will cherish forever in my heart. I think possibly 40 plus years of them. She used to cut my hair and we did some fundraisers at church. She was treasurer of the Lutheran women missionary group for many years. She did some youth ministry work also. She was in the choir next to me as an alto. I loved her dearly and her mother too. Heavenly peace my dear friend.
I’m truly sorry for you all. Although we lost touch a long time ago, I have very great memories with her and Nick, Kristy and Karie. Love and prayers.
Our sympathy to Nick, Kristy, Karie, and all the family. I remember her laugh and fun-loving personality. She was one of the cousins that sunk the boat at Goose Lake – can’t forget that. Rest in Peace Karen.
I have many fond memories of Karen through activities through church LWML and sitting in her chair in her shop. Always a smile and a laugh. My sympathies to Kristy , Katie and Nick
Many memories were made growing up around Karen. She was an awesome mentor who was there to listen and teach. A true guide in life whether it was in our church youth group or at school who kept us kids following the right path in life. She was always willing to lend a hand or ear and help out where it was needed. Her smiles and laughter will be missed but kept in my heart forever. My heartfelt condolences go out to all of her family and friends.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, Nick and family. Always had good times when working with you. I am so sorry for your loss. May Karen rest in peace in a glorious place in heaven.
