Kenneth A. Luczynski

Kenneth A. Luczynski, age 76, of Downers Grove. Husband of Kathleen, nee Augsburg, for 51 years. Loving father of Kevin (Nicole Rodriguez) Luczynski and Kyle Luczynski. Devoted grandfather of Pierce and Chance. Dear brother of Rita (Steve) Stepanek and Joseph (Sandy) Luczynski. Fond uncle of Sarah (Jacob) Bradt, Tiffany Augsburg and Greg Augsburg. Great-uncle of Jacob Bradt.
Ken was a man who found joy in the great outdoors – from golfing, fishing, and camping to tending his cherished half-acre lawn and mature trees. His innovative spirit shone through in everything he undertook, creating ingenious solutions like a kid-a-long to take his boys cross country skiing, a bicycle bar remover using a bottler opener, a firepit platform to protect the lawn, a table topper over a square card table turning it into a poker table, among other inventions as needs arose. He raised numerous fish in large striking fish tanks. He was 3rd and 4th degree in the St. Scholastica Knights of Columbus where he cooked and provided meals for the meetings. Ken greatly enjoyed coaching basketball with his son’s St. Scholastica teams. He was always at peace with a beer in hand in his workshop garage, where he could fix or build nearly anything. Above all, Ken took pride in caring for his family and home, ensuring everyone was well fed and safe.

I am saddened to hear of Ken’s passing. He was a kind and caring man who will be missed. He was a friend and fellow Knight of Columbus.
I knew Ken as a bicycle rider. As a matter of fact, he was one reason I joined his and Kathe’s bicycle group, the Pedal Pushers. I purchased his bike when he wanted a new one so they got me started on new life adventures. Thank you, Ken, for instructions on how to ride!
